My name is Cindy Womack and I am the creative force behind the blog I am More Than a Mother, Life with an empty nest! I am a guest designer today on the Bella Craft Blog! When I was asked to create a project for this post, I set out to look for some inspiration. It took all of two minutes to find the perfect piece of paper and with that, an idea was born! Looking at all the clocks, or should I say time pieces, I knew I wanted to create a mixed media canvas using paper and paints. I also knew that I wanted to combine these with a Bible verse that reflects our current state of affairs in the world. Within minutes I had the Bible verse I wanted and I got started creating a new canvas to hang in my house.
Here are the supplies that I used...
Silhouette Cameo
12 x 12 canvas
Patterned paper
Card stock
Paint
Paint Brush
...to create this beautiful and meaningful canvas.
Cut
out four, one inch strips using the patterned paper. Since this paper
had words written on it, it was important to make sure that the words
would all be facing the right way. This meant turning the paper and
cutting the strips from different sides.
Now that the canvas has been painted, use
the Silhouette Cameo (or cutting machine of your choice), to design, cut,
and adhere the letters L V E. In this case the letters are shadowed using black card stock. Notice the letter "O" for the word LOVE is one of the time pieces cut from the patterned paper (it was cut by hand). To frame the time piece, a neutral color thin circle was cut and placed over the top of the clock so that the raw edges don't show. The black shadow was added to match the rest of the word.
The Bible verse was created using the print and cut feature of the Cameo. Two paper flowers were added to compliment the flower that was used on the clock hands.
Once all the pieces are adhered into place, the canvas is now ready to adorn a wall. Here is how it looks hanging next to other wall furnishings.
The canvas has become a meaningful focal point and I just love how it looks on the wall.
If you have any questions about this project, drop me an email and I would be happy to discuss them with you.
